Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the Tokyo Marathon, where the participation of general runners was postponed last year, will be run by general runners, but the number of people will be reduced by 30% from the usual year.

The Tokyo Marathon was held on a course in the city center with the participation of invited athletes and general runners every year, but last year the participation of general runners was postponed due to the influence of the new Corona.

Due to the spread of the infection, the March tournament has been postponed and will be held on October 17th.

The Tokyo Marathon Foundation announced the guidelines for the event on the 19th, and general runners will also run this year.

However, in order to avoid crowding at the starting point, we will reduce the number of general runners by 30% from the usual year to about 25,000.

Of these, about 7,000 were runners who could not participate last year, and about 15,800 new runners will be recruited in the future.

The recruitment period is from 22nd to 31st of this month, and the result of the lottery will be notified by the end of April.

At the competition, as a measure to prevent infection, we are also considering inspecting all runners for the new corona.
