New arrest: Carlos Aranda, linked to marijuana trafficking
Carlos Aranda
, former Real Madrid youth squad and former player of several Spanish football teams, including Numancia, Villarreal, Sevilla, Osasuna or Albacete, is on provisional freedom investigated for crimes against public health, criminal group, fraud of electric fluid and documentary falsity.
Facts allegedly related to an
illegal marijuana cultivation network
.
Sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) have confirmed that the player, with several reviews in his criminal record, gave a statement before the Instruction Court number 12 of Malaga in the company of two other people "for a matter related to trafficking of drugs".
The aforementioned judicial body agreed to provisional release for the three.
The case was sent to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 3 of Antequera, which will be in charge of continuing the investigations.
Aranda
was arrested in a house in the Miraflores area of El Palo, the neighborhood in which his family has always resided
, following an investigation carried out by agents of the Civil Guard of Coín (Málaga) who allegedly link him to a network dedicated to the
indoor
cultivation
of marijuana hidden in homes in the province.
The case, called
Chaparro
, has resulted -for the moment- with the
arrest of five people
-among which was supposedly the ex-footballer- and has been the culmination of investigations carried out over several months in different regions.
Houses for growing marijuana
The investigations, according to the Armed Institute, started after the agents had knowledge of the existence of a criminal network dedicated to the indoor cultivation of marijuana in homes in the Malaga towns of Antequera, Alcaucín and Periana.
This organization, made up of people of Spanish nationality, had
several homes where they could grow hundreds of plants in different stages of growth to be gradually distributed later
.
The buildings had all the infrastructure, means and adequate systems for the cultivation of the plantations and
were
also
illegally connected to the electricity grid
.
In the five searches carried out, some 700 marijuana plants were seized, approximately 20,000 euros in cash, as well as six vehicles, computer equipment, mobile phones and various documentation.
Aranda was already arrested while he was still active in the course of an investigation for
money laundering derived from drug trafficking
, while at present he is still indicted in the so-called
Oikos case
, which investigates
