The Professional Football League (LFP) is very close to its reform.

The Union of Professional Football Clubs (UCPF) on Monday gave its approval to the future merger of its union with that of the Premier League.

"The member clubs of the UCPF have unanimously expressed their desire for a merger of their union with the Premier League with Laurent Nicollin [the president of Montpellier] as President," the UCPF said.

"They hoped that beforehand be discussed as soon as possible with their Premier League counterparts some points of organization of the common union and of the program which should serve as a platform for the unified union", she added.

Modification of the statutes of the LFP

The merger of the two unions, the UCPF, which brings together most of the L2 clubs and some "small" L1s, and Premier League, which represents most of the L1 clubs, is one of the governance reforms sought by the LFP.

The LFP Assembly voted in December to modify its statutes with a view to future reforms, including this merger.

The General Assembly of the French Football Federation adopted on March 12 this modification of the statutes of the League.
