It was found that the talks between the Tokyo Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and the international committees for the Olympic and Paralympic Games will be finalized on the 22nd of next week.

At the meeting, it is expected that a conclusion will be drawn on whether or not to accept the audience from overseas, who are increasingly finding it difficult to accept.

A meeting between the IOC = International Olympic Committee and IPC = International Paralympic Committee, the Organizing Committee and the government, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was held on the 3rd of this month, and a conclusion was reached later this month regarding the acceptance of spectators from overseas. We have agreed to determine the maximum number of spectators by the end of next month.

Of these, Mr. Hashimoto, chairman of the Games Organizing Committee, expressed his intention to make a decision on the acceptance of spectators from overseas before the start of the torch relay on the 25th of this month. Interviews with related parties revealed that the final adjustments have been made.

Regarding the acceptance of spectators from overseas, cautious opinions were heard one after another at the first meeting, and it is difficult to accept because the influence of the mutated virus cannot be predicted even within the government responsible for border measures and the infection situation at home and abroad. The view is growing, and it is expected that the conclusion of acceptance or rejection will be reached at the next meeting.
