37-year-old Chepsoi is not one of the country's most prominent runners and has no qualifications from track running.

In the marathon, she has a personal record of 2.29.25, which is a good distance from the world elite.

Chepsoi got stuck in a doping test for the anabolic steroid prednisolone after a race in China back in 2017.

Chepsoi claimed that she was treated in a Chinese hospital, but the Kenyan anti-doping unit ADAK discovered that the documents were forged and that she had never been in the hospital, writes AP.

Sentenced to community service

As a result, ADAK referred the case to a court in Nairobi.

Following several high-profile doping cases, doping has been criminalized in Kenya since 2016.

The first time Chepsoi appeared in court last year, she pleaded not guilty, something she changed to guilty last week.

The court's ruling was community service for one year.
