Summoning "New Iniesta" to the Spain national team

Spain coach Luis Enrique has summoned young Barcelona midfielder Pedri to the national team in preparation for his three matches against Greece, Georgia and Kosovo in the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

Critics have long compared Pedri to former Barcelona maestro Andres Iniesta.

The squad saw the return of Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara and Barcelona left back Jordi Alba.

Alba returns to the squad for the first time since Enrique returned to the position of coach in 2019, while Alcantara was not in the last squad at the camp last November.

Spain will meet Greece in Granada on the 25th of this month, before it meets Georgia outside its land three days later, and then with Kosovo in Seville on the 31st of this month.
