The German Football League (DFL) delivered almost alarming figures for the minor disaster.

The 2021 economic report clearly shows the dramatic consequences of the corona pandemic.

After 15 record years in a row, the total turnover of the 18 Bundesliga clubs fell by 217 million to 3.8 billion euros in the previous season.

But that's not all: The clubs expect even more substantial losses for the current season. "The huge extent of the Corona crisis hit all areas of life unprepared worldwide, including German professional football," said Christian Seifert about the report. The managing director of the DFL had already warned in December: "Last season was at best a mild breeze, but now the storm is coming."
