As the baseball competition population declines, a new league of youth baseball will be launched next month in Yokohama, where members who gathered on the day will play games so that they can easily participate.

The number of baseball players in the sports boys' baseball team, to which elementary school students belong, will decrease by about 60,000 from 10 years ago to less than 120,000 in 2019, and the declining trend will not stop.

Under these circumstances, a new league will be launched next month in Yokohama, where elementary school students who do not belong to the team will play games with the members who gathered on the day.

Prior registration is required to play in this league, and the categories are divided according to grade.

If you participate, you will always be able to participate in the match, and in the lower grades, you will play the match on an hourly basis instead of an inning system, and there will be a limit on the number of balls.

In addition, points will be given according to the number of participation opportunities, such as 2 points if 3 pitchers are appointed and 1 point if all players participate, and we want them to work on baseball from a new perspective other than winning or losing.

Koji Tsukamoto, the secretary general of the new league, said, "The decline in the baseball population has the potential to increase by improving the environment. I think the match is the best way to get people to know the appeal. Through the establishment of this league I want more children to be interested in baseball, "he said. He started with six teams in Yokohama and hopes to expand this type of league nationwide in the future.
