Lewandowski approaches the impossible in the German league

The crossbar deprived Polish sniper Robert Lewandowski of three goals scored on Saturday, but he succeeded in the end in scoring the third goal for Bayern Munich during the 3-1 victory at Werder Bremen Stadium to take a new step in his journey towards breaking all records.

Lewandowski is close to equating and possibly breaking the record for legend Gerd Muller, who scored 40 goals in the 1972 season.

Lewandowski scored a goal for the Bavarian club yesterday, with a shot from close range, to raise his tally to 32 goals in 25 matches in the Bundesliga.

With nine rounds remaining until the end of the season, the Polish sniper needed to score one goal per match to surpass Mueller's record.

Lewandowski also approached a new step from Mueller's record, the historic scorer for the Bundesliga with 365 goals, after he scored his 268th goal yesterday to share the top scorers' list with Schalke legend Klaus Fischer.

Lewandowski wrote on his Twitter account, "I am proud of the figure of the legend Fischer .. I always wanted to help Bayern win new titles through my goals."
