Saudi cooperation contracts with the British El Maestro instead of Carteron

The Saudi Al-Taawon Club announced its formal contract with the young British coach, Nestor El Maestro, to lead its first football team until the end of the season, succeeding French Patrice Carteron, who returned to train Egypt's Zamalek.

"The club management has officially signed with British coach Nestor El Maestro (38 years old), to lead the first team until the end of the current sports season," the cooperation said in an official statement.

The Saudi club terminated its contract with Carteron by mutual consent between the two parties, last Thursday.

El Maestro, who was born in Serbia, previously oversaw Spartak Trnava and led it to the league title in 2018, Bulgarian CSKA Sofia and Austria's Sturm Graz.

At the beginning of his coaching career, he worked as an assistant coach in Germany with Schalke, Hannover, Hamburg and Austria Vienna.

Carteron left Zamalek last September to train cooperation and was able to put the Saudi club in fourth place in the league, after beating Abha 1-0 on Wednesday, in addition to his team qualifying for the quarter-finals of the King's Cup.
