Early in the game, it was clear that Detroit had a good flow.

Of the team's six shots on goal in the first period, three paid dividends.

It should be compared to Tampa Bay's 15 shots that gave two goals.

- We did not score on our chances, and they scored on almost all of theirs.

I do not think we played so badly, says Tampa Bay forward Ondrej Palat, who scored one of the team's goals.

Before tonight's game, Detroit had not won against Tampa Bay in regular time since 2015. In the previous meeting, the night before Wednesday, they played a draw but lost in overtime.

Detroit coach Jeff Blashill is pleased to have scored three of four possible points against such a good team.

- I think our boys fought hard.

It's a good hockey team.

It was good for us to find a way to win, says Blashill to the club's website.
