Nine people have been indicted for fraud in an organized gang and equine doping, suspected of having organized a "doping system" in gallop races, announced Thursday the prosecution of Senlis (Oise).

The opening of the judicial investigation follows the "update, following a preliminary investigation conducted since October 2020, of the actions of a trainer of galloping horses exercising his professional activity in Sweet whipped cream ".

The investigations had been launched after "an anti-doping control carried out by France Galop on August 31, 2020 on the racecourse of Saint Cloud" specified the prosecution in a press release.

The investigation, "carried out by the central service of races and games of the central direction of the judicial police, allowed the update of an organized system of doping of galloping horses and the identification of at least 31 races. in which doped horses would have been entered ”.

Trainers and veterinarians banned from practicing

“At the end of long and exhaustive investigations, on March 9, 2021, 14 people were arrested, searches allowing the discovery of doping products, the seizure of a sum of 8,800 euros in cash and the judicial seizure of three horses, ”the statement continued.

The nine people indicted were placed under judicial supervision, while "in accordance with the requisitions of the public prosecutor, some were prohibited from exercising the profession of racehorse trainer or veterinarian in the world of horse racing. ".

"In addition, the main indictment was notified of the obligation to provide a deposit of 100,000 euros in particular intended to guarantee the payment of fines and / or possible damages", concludes the prosecution.
