Khaddi Sagnia, 26, took her first international senior medal when she took bronze at the European Indoor Championships with a jump of 6.75.

In Friday's episode of SVT's "Carina Bergfeldt", the long jumper tells about her background, how she grew up in a large family with a mother who had two jobs.

- It was tough.

But we learned at an early age to grow up and take care of ourselves, protect each other and make sure the household was in good condition.

I am very grateful for that.

Even when I moved away from home, I knew all the things that some of my friends might not know.

I could take care of myself, knew how to pay bills and plan, says Sagnia.

Sagnia says that one ordinary day after school she went home and prepared snacks before she went to training.

- I have always been an athlete, loved to move and tried a lot of different sports.

It was also a way for me to escape from reality and get somewhere where everyone was accepted regardless of background.

It was very nice for me to let go of reality and just disappear into a fairytale world.

The program will be broadcast on SVT1 21:00 tomorrow Friday.
