Rafael Nadal has opted out of next week's ATP tournament in Dubai on Thursday.
The Spanish tennis player already withdrew from Rotterdam and Acapulco for the same reason.
Nadal sustained the back injury at the beginning of this year and therefore missed the ATP Cup in Australia.
The number two in the world was able to participate in the Australian Open, where he was eliminated in the quarter finals by Stéfanos Tsitsipás.
Since then, 34-year-old Nadal has not played anymore.
"I would like to thank the tournament in Dubai for the invitation. We have seriously thought about it, but I think I am not quite ready to play yet," he writes on Twitter.
The next event where Nadal could make his return is the Miami ATP tournament.
The first games in the US state of Florida will be played on March 24.
On May 17, Roland Garros starts, the Grand Slam that Nadal has already won thirteen times.
