The Slovenian, winner of the last Tour of Spain and second in the Tour de France, achieved his first victory of the course on Wednesday by winning the fourth stage of the Paris-Nice.
A victory that catapulted him to the position of honor in the French round.
The Jumbo Visma rider scored the victory at the top of the Chiroubles pass, a first-class level, where he attacked with three kilometers to go, without a response from his rivals.
The Slovenian started the course with a high level of performance, in the time trial last Tuesday he was third, six seconds behind the Swiss Stefan Bissegger.
This Wednesday he beat the German Maximiliam Schachmann and the French
Guillaume Martin
in 12 seconds.
The German is now second overall in just over half a minute.
