Athletes considered that the biggest problem currently facing the national football team is the lack of adequate preparation for the resumption of the joint qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup, next June.

And they identified three technical concerns that worried the coaching staff, led by the Dutch coach Van Marwijk, especially the inability of Al-Abyad to play friendly matches that are very important for the coach to achieve the required harmony between the players, before competing in the qualifiers, which will be held in the assembly system in June, instead of coming and going. And according to the recent decisions of the Asian Football Confederation, which has taken into consideration travel prohibitions between countries now, and the UAE has a great opportunity to host Group G matches.

And the athletes identified to "Emirates Today" the three technical concerns in the absence of adequate preparation due to the current conditions related to the precautionary measures against "Covid-19", as well as the inability to play friendly matches, in addition to the large number of injuries that have attacked a large number of influential players.

It is reported that the national team was in its last camp last February, without playing any friendly match, while Marvik was the only friendly last January against Iraq in the first gathering.

They said that these conditions are not specific to white people only, but most other teams suffer.

They called on the National Teams Committee of the Football Association and the technical staff to devise a new preparation program to suit these rapid developments.

The National Teams Committee is scheduled to announce the program for preparing the new team for the next stage, as it was delayed, as the Football Association awaits the announcement of the Asian Football Confederation on the 15th of this month, the country that will host Group G matches, which includes the team as well as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

According to the new dates announced by the Confederation of the Game, the remaining matches in the joint qualifiers for the World Cup and the Asian Cup will be held during the period from the third to the 15th of next June.

The international player and former national team supervisor, Dr. Hassan Suhail, stressed that the most prominent point is that the issue of injuries has been going on repeatedly with the national team for a long time.

Hassan Suhail added: "The problems that the national team is going through, we used to suffer and know them in the past, but we have great confidence in the ability of the Football Association and the technical staff of the team known for its competence in finding solutions to the problem of injuries among the players of the national team."

He believed that "the national team still has sufficient opportunity to prepare for the new preparation through the ability to control the league table and matches, so that it can prepare as required, in proportion to the expected benefits."

While he stressed that the UAE is able, with its capabilities, to host group matches that will be held by the grouping system to meet all the standards and requirements set by the AFC, due to the availability of modern infrastructure, including sports stadiums and others, as well as the availability of health requirements according to the highest required standards.

Former Olympic team coach Eid Barout said, "The obsession and the main problem that the coach will face is not playing enough friendly matches, given the fact that these matches increase the harmony between the players," indicating that otherwise, all matters related to the team are Alright, confirming his great confidence in the ability of Al-Abyad to qualify for the second round of the qualifiers.

For his part, the coach of the Sharjah reserve team and the former Olympic team, Abdul Majeed Al-Nimr, said that “there is no dispute that the conditions of the (Corona) pandemic affected all countries, and there could be teams competing for the white who went through worse conditions.”

He continued, "These circumstances do not in any way constitute excuses for the national team in its upcoming career."

He said that he had great confidence in the national team and the technical staff to qualify for the next stage, describing the national team coach Marvik as the most appropriate option, given his previous knowledge of the players.

Abdul Majeed Al-Nimr called for the importance of focusing in the next stage, along with continuous follow-up of the players' cases to ensure their full readiness from all sides.

The 3 technical concerns:

1- Insufficient preparation due to current circumstances.

2- Repeated injuries to some of the national team players, especially the influential elements.

3- Al-Abyad did not play enough friendly matches to enable the technical staff to achieve the required harmony between the players.

• With coach Marvik, the national team fought two camps in January and February.

• The second leg of the World Cup qualifiers, which will be held next June, with the grouping system ... and the UAE that is closest to hosting Group G matches.
