It's not easy to grasp all the subtleties of the very austere draw for the final stages of the European Rugby Cups, which took place this Tuesday at midday.

The rule, roughly speaking: teams from the same championship could not compete in the eighth (April 2, 3 and 4).

In the Champions Cup, we will logically see beautiful posters, after a group stage reduced to two days instead of six, due to Covid-19.

🏉 The Champions Cup draw has delivered its verdict.

Difficult trips for Toulouse and Toulon who will travel to Ireland.

ASM, La Rochelle and LOU will travel to England.

Finally, Racing and Bordeaux will host Edinburgh and Bristol, the premiership leader.

Leader of the Top 14, Stade Toulousain will rub shoulders with Munster, in Limerick.

Even deprived of its supporters in these times of health crisis, the Irish province, double European champion, will be a huge piece for the four-time winner of the competition.

Four other French clubs will travel, including three to England: Lyon in Exeter, defending champion, Clermont with the Wasps and La Rochelle in Gloucester;

Toulon will visit the Irish of Leinster.

Seven French clubs in the running

The Bordeaux-Bègles Union will host Bristol, leader of the English championship who stole the fantastic Fijian center Semi Radradra from the Girondins last summer.

Racing 92, unhappy finalist in 2020, will start as favorite in its Arena in Nanterre ahead of the Scots in Edinburgh.

In the best of all worlds, the quarter-finals of April 9, 10 and 11 would feature three Franco-French duels: Lyon - Toulouse, Clermont - Toulouse and UBB - Racing 92. In the last quarter, the winner of Gloucester - La Rochelle will host that of the eighth final between the Welsh Scarlets and the English of Sale.
