  In the latest joint statement, it also introduced other efforts made by the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics to encourage gender equality.

Nearly 49% of the athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics will be women, and there will be a groundbreaking competition arrangement.

Compared with the 2016 Rio Olympics, the Tokyo Olympics hosted 9 more mixed events, bringing the total to 18.

  At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, according to the qualification standards of the International Olympic Committee, at least 40.5% of all athletes are female athletes.

This is equivalent to 1782 athletes, which is an increase from the 1671 female athletes (38.6%) in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
