The World Cup finals, which were to be held last year but were postponed due to corona, will be held between March 31 and April 4 in Gothenburg.

But due to the abortion virus (EHV-1), there is currently a national competition stop until March 28.

That is why many people are wondering: Will the finals really be arranged?

At a press conference with the International Equestrian Federation today, the message came: Yes, it will run as planned.

- This is a disease that we had in Sweden two years ago.

And then we put together a safety protocol around this, says Göran Åkerström, veterinarian.

"Increase security even more"

Åkerström also says that, last week, he sat in a meeting with the organizing committee and their veterinarians regarding the safety protocol - and that it was agreed to use it during the finals.

- And increase safety even a little more than we had in 2019. We would only drive if we could assure that it was safe to arrange the competitions.

Do the riders feel any anxiety about participating?

- No such information has emerged.

Nobody has said: 'We are worried,' said Sabrina Ibanez, secretary of the International Equestrian Federation.
