Femke Bol fulfilled her favorite role on the 400 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Torun on Saturday evening.
The 21-year-old athlete ran for the European title with force majeure, while Lieke Klaver finished fifth.
Bol's gold is the first gold for the Netherlands at this European Championship.
Earlier in the evening, Tony van Diepen took silver in the 400 meters for the men and bronze for Liemarvin Bonevacia.
Bol gave her gold extra shine by hitting her own Dutch record in 50.63.
Her old top time was 50.64, which she ran last month.
The time of number five Klaver was 52.03.
The young Bol has been making a sensational advance in international athletics for a year now.
She was in a final of the international championship for the first time in Torun, but was a huge favorite because of her impressive performances on the indoor courts this winter.
In 2021, De Amersfoortse has already hit the Dutch record four times before and with her best time, she leads this year's European rankings by far.

Bol already made an impression in series and semi-finals
On the way to the final, Bol already showed her class with dominant performances in the series and the semi-finals.
With long strides and remarkable suppleness, she always convincingly won her races.
In the final, Klaver, Bol's girlfriend and training partner, initially took the lead.
Bol passed her on the outside, however, and walked towards the gold with great display of power.
Clover slumped and grabbed next to the medals.
The silver went to the Polish Justyna Swiety-Ersetic in 51.41, the bronze to the British Jodie Williams in 51.73.
The gold will give Bol a good feeling towards the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The pupil of the successful coaching duo Laurent Meuwly and Bram Peters aims at 400 meters hurdles after the European Championship in Torun.
In that area she already made it to the world top last year and she wants to excel again in Tokyo next summer.
The European Indoor Championships will last until Sunday and then there are again medal opportunities for the Dutch team, with Nadine Visser in the 60 meter hurdles as the most important asset.
Dafne Schippers and Sifan Hassan do not participate in Torun, because they do not think the tournament fits in their schedule towards the Games.
