On March 6, Chi Shangbin, a famous Chinese football player, died of illness at the age of 72.

Chi Shangbin was born in Dalian, Liaoning in 1949. He played for the Liaoning team as a player.

He was selected for the Chinese national team in 1970, and since then has represented the national team in the Asian Cup, Olympic Games and World Cup qualifiers.

He started his coaching career in 1985 and has coached Dalian Wanda, Sichuan, Henan, Shenzhen Football and other teams. He led Dalian Wanda to a 55-round unbeaten record and led the team to the A League championship.
