Fabien Galthié innocent.

The president of the medical commission of the French Rugby Federation, Roger Salamon, affirmed, Wednesday March 3, on RTL, that the coach of the XV of France was put out of question by the internal investigation submitted by the FFR to the ministry of Sports.

"In my report, I put it at the beginning, it is perfectly clear that what he did, whatever one might think, he had the right to do, and that there was no particular risk" , explained the former president of the High Council of Public Health.

The coach of the XV of France had left the bubble of the XV of France to attend a match of his son the day after the victory of the Blues in Rome against Italy (50-10) on the first day of the Tournament of Six Nations.

"He's not patient zero"

"Besides, he's not patient zero. It's virologically obvious, from the distance at which he went to see his son and from the distance at which there were the first cases. I'm not saying that to defend him, he does not need it. I say that because it is the truth ", continued Roger Salamon.

The FFR explained last week that the Covid-19 had entered the health bubble of the XV of France via a player of the France VII team requested for training in Marcoussis.

"The France team was unlucky (...) With this virus and particularly its so-called English variant, the zero risk does not exist. From an infection which concerned a rugby sevens player, the virus circulated through the teams of France and in particular the big one and resulted in the catastrophe of this week, had explained Roger Salamon, Monday, in an interview with the newspaper Midi Olympique.

Sixteen members of the XV of France, twelve players and four members of the management including coach Fabien Galthié, contracted the coronavirus, which resulted in the postponement of the France-pod match initially scheduled for last Sunday.
