Buffon reveals the date of his retirement

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has revealed that he plans to retire from football by June 2023, but has not ruled out a decision before this time.

The 43-year-old striker has a contract with Juventus until the end of this season and has not yet reached an agreement to extend the contract with the Italian champion.

Buffon said in an interview with the Guardian newspaper, "In my thinking there is a maximum time limit for the downtime and that is June 2023."

"This is the maximum date ever, but I might stop in four months," he added.

Buffon, the 2006 World Cup winner with Italy, had previously said in 2017 that he would retire the following year, but then moved to Paris Saint-Germain for one year before returning to Juventus.

Buffon participated in ten matches in all competitions this season.
