Yuki Kawauchi, who has been attracting attention as a civil servant runner and is currently active as a professional, has completed more than 100 full marathon races within 2 hours and 20 minutes, and has been certified as a Guinness World Record.

Kawauchi has been attracting attention as a civil servant runner working at a prefectural high school in Saitama Prefecture, and has participated in the world championships four times. In 2018, he won the world's leading marathon and the Boston Marathon in the United States. I have left it.

On the other hand, until the effects of the new coronavirus came out, I participated in races about 10 times a year, including the citizen marathon, and turned into a professional runner.

Kawauchi completed the "Hofu Yomiuri Marathon" held in Yamaguchi Prefecture last December in a time of 2 hours 10 minutes 26 seconds, and completed the full marathon within 2 hours 20 minutes, which was a milestone of 100 times. In the "Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon", he set a personal best of 2 hours 7 minutes 27 seconds and extended the record to 101 times.

After the 100th race, Kawauchi applied for Guinness World Records certification, and on the 2nd, the record was certified as "the most completed marathon within 2 hours and 20 minutes".

Kawauchi: "Maybe the fact that I kept running steadily led to the record."

Kawauchi, who was given the certificate, said, "I'm not the fastest in Japan or the strongest in Japan, but I think that the fact that I've been running steadily since I was little has led to the record." He talked about joy.

Kawauchi is aiming to participate in the world championships next year, and will continue his current style of participating in many races.

"Unique runner" Kawauchi Full Marathon 109 times, 41 wins

Yuki Kawauchi of the marathon is 33 years old.

While many of the top athletes participate in marathons only once or twice a year, Kawauchi is a unique runner who has run 13 times a year in many years as part of his training.

The first marathon was the 2009 Beppu Oita Mainichi Marathon, which I participated in when I was at Gakushuin University, with a time of 2 hours 19 minutes 26 seconds.

After graduating from university, I declined the invitation of the businessman and chose to practice independently while working as an office worker at a prefectural high school in Saitama prefecture.

Then, at the 2011 Tokyo Marathon, he set a good time of 2 hours 8 minutes 37 seconds and became the representative of the world championship, and suddenly attracted attention as a "public servant runner".

He participated in the world championships four times, from this year's Daegu tournament to the adult Doha tournament, and heaped up Japan's long-distance world, which had been sluggish as a top-level player in Japan.

Of particular note is the traditional Boston Marathon held in 2018, which has demonstrated its tenacity in windy and rainy conditions, and has been 31 since Toshihiko Seko, who won the 1987 tournament as a Japanese player. I won the championship for the first time in a year.

After that, at the same time as turning to a professional runner in 2019, he announced his marriage to Yuko Mizuguchi, a former businessman runner.

After turning professional, I couldn't keep up with the trend of speeding up, but as a result of challenging platform shoes with the advice of my wife Yuko, I set a new self-record for the first time in eight years at the Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon on the 28th. We marked a good time of 2 hours 7 minutes 27 seconds.

He has run 109 full marathons so far, 101 runs within 2 hours and 20 minutes, and 41 wins.

All the races I participated in were completed, and I participated as a pacemaker. After the leading female athlete scored at the Osaka International Ladies Marathon in January, I crossed the finish line inconspicuously.

Also, with the same name "Kawauchi", we are also engaged in activities to participate in the town revitalization event in Kawauchi Village, Fukushima Prefecture, which has been affected by the nuclear accident.
