The World Badminton Federation announced on the 2nd that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed the Tokyo Olympic Games points schedule previously revised by the World Badminton Federation, which will be held from June 1 to 6, 2021. The Singapore Open will be the last Olympic qualification for the Tokyo Olympics.

  The World Badminton Federation issued a statement saying: "This is part of the Olympic Games and its qualification system revised by the World Badminton Federation approved by the International Olympic Committee, and the qualification certification time includes two stages-from April 29, 2019 to 2020. March 15, 2021 and January 4, 2021 to June 13, 2021."

  In the second stage, that is, during the Olympic points competition period of this year's semi-final, a total of 23 eligible matches were included in the Olympic points competition system.

  The badminton event contains a total of 172 places, including 164 qualifying places (82 for men and women), two host places and 6 third-party committee invitation places.

The maximum number of athletes in each country is 8 men and 8 women.

  In terms of individual events, there are 38 places for men's and women's singles, and each of the three doubles matches contains 16 pairs.

  At the same time, based on the qualifying rankings on June 15, 2021, each team in singles matches has a maximum of two places, and doubles matches also has a maximum of two places.

  The World Badminton Federation stated that after the qualifying round, the World Badminton Federation will announce the ranking of the Tokyo Olympic Qualifying Tournament on June 15, 2021.

In other words, the list of athletes who qualify for the competition will be determined at that time.

  The quota allocated through the host country quota and third-party committee invitation will be confirmed before June 18.

The associations that have obtained the quota will have one week to confirm how they will use it. The BWF will redistribute all unused quotas before July 5th. The final confirmation deadline for the Tokyo Olympics is July 5.
