It was in Thursday's away match against Luleå that Frölunda's captain Joel Lundqvist, handed out a tackle just when Carl Mattsson passed the puck on.

The tackle hit Mattsson in the head and Lundqvist received a match penalty.

Lundqvist was informed on Friday that he will be suspended in five SHL matches by the disciplinary committee.

- It's crazy if I think that I have been suspended for ten matches in one season.

I have to learn as a tackler that I have to put the tackle clinically, he says.

"I have the ultimate responsibility"

For 20 years, Lundqvist has been a physical player, and according to him, there have not been many suspensions.

And he has reflected on the situation with Carl Mattsson.

- I want to stand for hard play - but nice.

Of course, I have to learn that this is not what I want to stand for.

It is clear that I have looked at this situation very many times afterwards.

It's me who tackles, I have the ultimate responsibility.

There is nothing to talk about, says Frölunda's captain.

Lundqvist believes that he takes responsibility for his hard play and that he never wants to put anyone in a stupid situation.

He also points out that the situation would have looked different if Mattsson had looked up.

Lundqvist wrote to Mattsson after the match

Since the incident, the Frölunda captain has spoken to Carl Mattsson.

- I texted him quickly after the match.

I hope he's back in action as soon as possible.

He appreciated that I heard from him, so that's good, he says.

Lundqvist does not believe that anything good can come out of the suspension and that he is currently focusing on looking ahead.

- It has been boring and difficult days when there are such things.

I look forward - and there is good breadth in the team, says Joel Lundqvist.
