5-0 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and 8-0 in his MMA fights: this is the new record that

Ciryl Gane

can display

.

After four wins since entering UFC, the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) league in August 2019, the Frenchman picked up the fifth in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on Saturday. February 27.

Rozenstruik helpless for 25 minutes against Gane

The French fighter was expected at the turn.

It was his first “main event” and his first meeting in five rounds.

And above all, Ciryl Gane was facing a big client: Jairzinho Rozenstruik, the No. 4 in the heavyweight division, who posted 11 wins to one defeat (in 20 seconds against Cameroonian Francis Ngannou).

The very powerful Surinamese was a new opponent of choice after the Brazilian and former

Junior

champion

dos Santos, defeated in mid-December

.

The high level did not however disturb the Frenchman, who assumed his status as favorite.

In the octagon, Ciryl Gane dominated all five rounds by head and shoulders.

A little lighter (112 kilos against 115), a little bigger and with a better reach, he annihilated all the attempts of his opponent and maintained constant pressure.

Offensive, very mobile on his legs, Gane skilfully swelled between boxing, fighting the grid and attempts to take Rozenstruik to the ground.

The latter never found an opening to reverse the fight.

"I want people to know that I am ready"

On arrival, the judges unanimously gave Ciryl Gane the winner, logically (50-45 for the three).

This fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik sounds like a very successful exam.

The Frenchman will move up the top heavyweight rankings again, and everyone could see he had the stamina for the fights in five rounds.

With his usual smile, the winner of the evening still let go, at the microphone of

RMC Sport

, to have "

a little bitter taste of not having finished before the limit

 ".

I would have liked to finish him on the ground, I would have wanted a nice submission,

" he confessed, while admitting that he was still facing "

someone extremely dangerous

 ".

And now, what's next for the 30-year-old fighter?

“

I want to go as high as possible,

 ” he said.

The undefeated Gane knows he can't claim Stipe Miocic's belt yet.

Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones

, in particular, are in the running.

But the French, with this eighth victory, settles a little more in the chessboard.

“

I'm getting into the little papers.

I want people to take me seriously, to know I'm ready,

 ”he said.

The message has probably passed.
