The France-Scotland match of the Six Nations Tournament, scheduled for Sunday, was canceled following the multiplication of cases of Covid-19 within the XV of France.

Florian Grill, president of the Ile-de-France League, asks the microphone of Europe 1 for an "independent" investigation and possible sanctions.

INTERVIEW

A team decimated by the coronavirus.

The match of the Six Nations Tournament between France and Scotland, scheduled for Sunday, was postponed after the detection on Thursday of a new positive case of Covid-19 in the French ranks, bringing their number to 17 among the players and of the staff.

This raises the question of respecting the health bubble created to avoid precisely this kind of incident.

Florian Grill, president of the Ile-de-France League and member of the executive committee of the French Rugby Federation, does not hide his anger.

"Amateur rugby is suffering. We are losing licensees, we are losing volunteers. We needed a winning French team and an exemplary federation," he annoyed on Sunday at the microphone of Europe 1.

Roxana Maracineanu, Minister of Sports, is already demanding accounts.

"I requested an internal investigation from the Federation so that we can have written explanations from them," she said a little earlier on the air, citing probable "breaches" of the health protocol developed by her. ministry.

But for Florian Grill, an internal investigation is not enough.

"It's not up to the stakes. What is needed is an independent investigation so that the truth can be established in full transparency."

"At a minimum, there is lightness and negligence"

He wants the investigation to be of interest to all supervisors, including Bernard Laporte, coach of the Blues, and Serge Simon, their "Covid manager".

"At the very least, there is lightness and negligence, even incompetence. The question is whether there is also a lie. We have had as many versions of this story as there are days of the week ", points out the president of the Ile-de-France League.

At the end of the independent investigation that he requests, Florian Grill says he wants, according to his conclusions, possible "sanctions".

"An amateur rugby player who goes to training and does not put on his mask pays a fine of 150 euros. If he does it again, he pays a fine of 1,500 euros. Responsibility and penalties are not just for Mr. and lady everyone. "
