LeBron James once again defended the philosophy of using his famous athlete platform to work for the black community, in the face of criticism from Swedish international striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who advised him to focus only on sports.

The latest criticism of the policy followed by James came from Ibrahimovic, the Milan striker, who in a recent interview with Discovery + in Sweden, the subject was James.

believes LeBron James should focus on sports and criticized the social and political activism of the

.

"(LeBron) is phenomenal at what he's doing, but I don't like it when people have some kind of status, they go and do politics at the same time," critic Ibrahimovic.

"Do what you are good at. Your profession. I play soccer because I am the best at soccer. I do not do politics. If I were a politician, I would do politics."

Ibrahimovic argued that "that's the first big mistake people make when they become famous and acquire a certain status. Stay out of it. Just do what you do best because the rest don't look good."

James did not take Ibrahimovic's comments amiably and in a lengthy response after last night's game, which his Los Angeles Lakers team beat Portland 102-93, reiterated that he would never limit himself to sports and would always wear his platform for the benefit of your community.

"Ultimately, I would never shut up about things that are wrong. I talk about my people and inequality, social injustice, racism, things that happen in our community," defended James.

"I know what happens because I have a group of more than 300 children in my school who go through the same thing and need a voice."

James then went on to criticize Ibrahimovic, whom he called a "hypocrite" after having heard him in the past comment on the "racism" that had affected him in his own country.

"It's funny that he said that, because I think that in 2018 it was the same athlete who criticized the discriminatory treatment he received on the field because his last name was not native to the country," James recalled.
