Vitesse booked a victory in the Eredivisie for the first time in more than a month on Saturday.

The Arnhemmers were too strong for VVV-Venlo in the foretaste of the semi-final of the TOTO KNVB Cup with 4-1.

Heracles Almelo and Twente did not get further than 2-2 in the derby.

Vitesse shot off the starting blocks and took the lead in the third minute.

Loïs Openda went well with Armando Broja and got the ball at exactly the right moment from the Albanian.

The Belgian then placed the ball in the roof of the goal.

It seemed like the start of the ultimate revenge for Vitesse, which started the series of bad results exactly a month ago with a 4-1 defeat in Venlo.

Nothing turned out to be further from the truth, because after more than fifteen minutes of play, VVV was allowed to take a penalty.

Riechedly Bazoer slipped Torino Hunte down and top scorer Giorgos Giakoumakis, who scored four more times against Vitesse last month, did not fail from the spot.

The Greek scored his 23rd goal of the season.

Vitesse took only one point in the last five matches, but prevented new points loss in the second half.

Bazoer made up for his mistake in the first half by shooting the ball into the far corner with the left after a good action: 2-1.

Fifteen minutes before the end, a shot from Sondre Tronstad flew in via Tobias Pachonik for the 3-1.

Broja took care of the final score after a nice combination with Matús Bero in the final phase.

Coming Tuesday, Vitesse and VVV-Venlo will face each other again in Arnhem.

Both clubs will then compete in the semi-finals of the cup tournament for a ticket to the final battle.

The game starts at 9 p.m.

Twente fights back twice from behind

The derby between Heracles Almelo and FC Twente yielded four goals, but no winner: 2-2.

The home team took the lead twice, but also released it twice quite quickly.

Already after six minutes the spell was broken in Almelo.

Ismail Azzaoui shot the ball from a corner through the legs of Twente goalkeeper Joël Drommel.

The goal was dubious, because the corner kick was wrongly awarded.

Twente was able to repair the damage within 15 minutes.

Queensy Menig took advantage of Heracles' bad defense and hit the ball from the edge of the penalty area against the ropes.

Shortly after the break, Heracles took the lead again via Rai Vloet.

After dramatically defending Kik Pierie, Vloet took the ball on his shoe and scored his tenth goal of the season.

This time, Twente only needed three minutes to come alongside.

Danilo was passed by Luciano Narsingh and shot the ball into the top corner with a lot of feeling: 2-2.

In the final phase, Delano Burgzorg missed a big chance of the 3-2.
