Jeonbuk Hyundai, a professional football K-League 1 defending champion, took the first step toward losing the 5th consecutive league by holding FC Seoul in the opening game.

Jeonbuk won 2-0 with Kim Won-gyun's own goal and Barowoo's wedge goal in the official opening game of Hanawon-Q K League 1 2021 held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 27th.

With this, Jeonbuk continued its undefeated march (9 wins 1 draw) for 10 consecutive seasons of the opening game, and began the challenge of winning the K League 1 5th consecutive victory.

After retiring from active duty in Jeonbuk and working as a coach for a long period of time, coach Kim Sang-sik, who climbed to the command tower ahead of this season, tasted the joy of victory in his professional debut.

On the contrary, coach Park Jin-seop, who led Gwangju FC until last season, saw the bitter taste of defeat in his debut in Seoul.

Ki Sung-yong, who was suspicious of sexual violence against a junior in the soccer team when he was in elementary school, broke expectations and started, but was replaced with Chan-hee Han in the 36th minute without any significant performance.

Seoul took the lead in the first half as it succeeded in attacking the flanks with Na Sang-ho on the left, Cho Young-wook on the right, and two quick strikers.

In the second minute of the first half, Na Sang-ho caught the ball near the center circle and quickly broke through the Jeonbuk camp, and then shot a shot from the right side of the goal area with Jeonbuk defender Kim Min-hyuk in front of him, but was blocked by goalkeeper Song Bum-geun.

Jeollabuk-do began to show off its'defending champion' little by little after 40 minutes of the first half.

In the 45th minute of the first half, Yong-yong raised a roving pass from the right, giving Gustavo at the door a header goal.

However, the ball left Gustavo's head and headed to the right of the goal.

Jeollabuk-do removed Gustavo and Jae-moon Ryu in the second half of the 13th minute, and insisted on the rein of the attack with Barowoo and Ilyuchenko, who signed up from Pohang Steelers ahead of the season.

Jeonbuk, who was constantly knocking, eventually opened the goal with an opponent's own goal in the 30th minute of the second half.

Seoul defender Kim Won-gyun kicked a free kick from the left by Kim Bo-kyung at Ilyuchenko’s head.

Jeonbuk finished with a cross shot of Kim Bo-kyung in the 48th minute of the second half with Baro’s door-to-door shot, marking a 2-0 victory.
