In a press release, OM owner Frank McCourt announced Friday evening that Jacques-Henri Eyraud was no longer the club president and was replaced by Pablo Longoria.

The supporters, hostile to the now ex-boss, rejoice and hope for a "new era" at OM.

The American owner of Olympique de Marseille, Frank McCourt, announced Friday "profound changes" in the club, foremost among which is the sidelining of President Jacques-Henri Eyraud.

He is replaced by the current sporting director, Pablo Longoria.

A "relief" for many supporters, more and more hostile to the boss of the club.

“It was no longer possible. The whole city was against him, all of Marseille was against Eyraud,” exclaims Alex, a fervent supporter of OM.

At the end of January, several hundred angry Olympique de Marseille supporters carried out a coup at the Commanderie, the club's training center.

They were particularly upset against Jacques-Henri Eyraud since the latter had mentioned the "danger" of having too many Marseillais or supporters of OM within the club, during a conference on management.

"New faces, new goals"

Alex hopes that the departure of Jacques-Henri Eyraud will be synonymous with change.

"New faces, new objectives, new era at OM! There were excesses at the Commanderie, demonstrations. We were never heard. There, finally, we have the impression that there is perhaps to be a step towards us. But we are waiting to see, all the problems are not resolved. The club will also have to recover. "

Same story on the side of Christophe Bouchet, former president of OM.

"The outcome seemed written. The supporters, in particular at OM, are part of the life of the club. The showdown was totally futile and unnecessary," he said.

But if a page turns, history is not yet written.

"The answer that Frank McCourt will have to give in the coming weeks is not to know who will be sporting director or coach. It is what the quality of the Olympique de Marseille squad will be."
