At 3:24 p.m. Thursday, Michigan State Police found the dead body of

John Geddert

in a rest area on Interstate 96 as it passed through Clinton County.

The former coach of the US Olympic gymnastics team had taken his own life at the age of 63, just hours after being accused of 24 crimes, including sexual assault and human trafficking.

The suicide investigation continued late yesterday, although the details will not be cleared up for a few hours, Michigan authorities admitted.

Geddert's corpse appeared in the vicinity of Grand Ledge, a town less than 20 kilometers north of Dimondale, the town where he worked for years in the company of Dr.

Larry Nassar

.

According to the latest investigation, spanning three years, at the Twistars gym, Geddert and Nassar subjected their young gymnasts to all kinds of sexual, emotional and verbal abuse and led to extreme physical demands that led to numerous injuries.

Sarah Klein

, Nassar's first known victim, trained with Geddert for more than 10 years.

Shortly after the suicide was known, Klein called Geddert a "narcissistic abuser" and added that his death meant "the recognition of his guilt."

"His flight from justice is traumatic and cannot be explained in words. For more than 30 years he tortured and abused little girls, including myself, and was able to circumvent the law," added the former gymnast through a statement.

Stomping on bare feet

On Wednesday, the Michigan District Attorney had listed Geddert's 24 crimes to Eaton County Judge

Julie O'Neall

.

That 37-page document explained that the technician's actions were not "isolated", but rather followed a "pattern."

According to Special Agent

Bridgette Frost

, Geddert stepped on the girls' bare feet with his shoes.

In addition, between 2012 and 2018 it raised $ 9.3 million gross after forcing the girls to compete, even if they were injured.

However, according to Frost's accusations, Geddert only admitted to having entered 2.7 million between 2014 and 2018.

Among the victims who rose up against Geddert stood out the voice of

Aly Raisman

, captain of the Olympic team that won team gold at the 2012 Games. "As a minor in the national team, I often had to travel (without my parents ) under the supervision of the Federation. Among the adults 'responsible' were John Geddert,

Marvin Sharpe

,

Steve Penny

and Larry Nassar ", denounced Raisman, 26 years old.

Police, in the rest area where Geddert's lifeless body was found.

"The criminal offenses of which they have been charged include, respectively, criminal sexual conduct and blackmail, child harassment, destruction of evidence and sexual abuse. For an organization that for the last 15 years stated that 'the safety of athletes is the priority number one 'it is impossible to imagine a greater failure. This is and always has been bigger than John Geddert, Marvin Sharpe, Steve Penny and Larry Nassar, "added the former gymnast.

"Why is there still no independent investigation? How many more girls have to suffer?", Concluded Raisman, who at those London Games also hung the gold medal on the floor and the bronze medal on the balance beam.
