During Friday morning, Sarah Sjöström has taken another step towards a comeback.

Sjöström, who suffered a fracture in his elbow in early February, is now ready to leave the training cycle and step back into the water.

- I did an X-ray today.

The stitches are gone and everything looks good on the X-ray.

The wound has healed nicely and I can be back in the water from Monday.

But of course I can not use my arm in a few weeks, she says to SVT Sport at the same time as she performs the first mobility session of the day

- It is now important to be a little creative before I can start training as usual.

"Do not challenge the triceps"

Because it still takes a while before she can start training with her arm as usual.

- I still must not challenge the triceps so much and the fracture must heal completely.

Right now it's a record that holds everything together.

When it heals, I should be able to start swimming.

It will probably take a month and a half - two months before I can start using my arms.

Sjöström felt that there would be positive news.

- I have not been nervous.

I know that the rehab went as planned and it feels good.

It's just to continue as we do and when everything is healed we can increase again.

Trained since the accident

She has been training properly ever since the accident.

- I was really only free the day after the operation, since then I have actually trained something every day.

Nothing high-intensity, but just trying to keep the body going and I think that's why it heals so well too, she says.

It was on February 6 that Sarah Sjöström slipped on an ice patch and landed on her elbow.

The accident resulted in a fracture of the elbow.

Two days later, the 27-year-old underwent surgery and since then she has been rehabilitated.

Sjöström's big goal this season, the Olympics in Tokyo, is only five months away.
