- I hope to be able to go in there and be prepared for different scenarios and it is not a disadvantage to get into the championship in good shape, Kramer says to SVT Sport.

"Giles and his coach have decided to withdraw from the championship to prepare for the outdoor season and the Olympics in Tokyo," the British Athletics Federation wrote on its website.

26-year-old Giles recently ran the second fastest time ever in the 800 meters indoors, 1.43.63, in Torun, Poland, the same arena where the European Championships will be decided, where Kramer was third on the Swedish record 1.45.09.

"It's close behind me"

Britten's rebid means that Kramer gets rid of one of his worst competitors and is moved up to second place in the statistics before the European Championships.

Before him, he has only the British Jamie Webb who was second in Torun at 1.44.54.

- Jamie Webb beat me there and I know that he is strong and won a medal at the latest indoor European Championships, but there are several other runners that I also compete with.

It is close behind me and several of them have beaten me, says Kramer set on finding a good position in the races he will run in tough 800 meters where it often gets messy, especially in championships.
