Zinedine Zidane expects Real Madrid to meet an opponent on Wednesday evening in the eighth finals of the Champions League with Atalanta who will brutally look for the attack.

The trainer sees a parallel in this with the Ajax of two seasons ago.

"I don't really like comparisons, but they are both very attacking teams with a lot of individual quality," Zidane responded on Tuesday to a question in the press conference.

"I expect a very attractive game tomorrow."

Ajax stunted two years ago in the Champions League by eliminating Real Madrid in the eighth finals.

At the time, the Spaniards did lay an excellent basis by winning 1-2 in Amsterdam, but then lost 1-4 in Bernabéu.

Real Madrid had won the Champions League three times in a row under Zidane in the years before.

After two early eliminations, European success is a must this year, according to the trainer.

"We know what it feels like to make it to the final and plan to do it again. A club like Real can only be satisfied with a win."

Zidane has to do that without a number of determining players.

Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos, among others, will not be there on Wednesday.

"There is no reasonable explanation for all injuries. But it should not be an excuse, we are ready."

Gasperini: 'Ambitious, but not arrogant'

There are fewer personnel problems for Atalanta in the run-up to the duel in Bergamo.

Trainer Gian Piero Gasperini has to do without the injured Dutchman Hans Hateboer.

"I do not believe that Real is extra vulnerable because of the many absentees", Gasperini said.

"It is a team that has proven to stand up when the pressure is highest."

As a Champions League debutant, Atalanta reached the quarter-finals last season, in which Paris Saint-Germain was just too strong.

Nevertheless, Gasperini guards against too high expectations.

"We can be ambitious, but not arrogant. We are not a top European team, as some would have us believe."

The game between the number five in Italy and number two in Spain starts on Wednesday at 9 p.m.

The return in Madrid is on March 16.
