On Thursday, the first medals will be awarded at the World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf, Germany, when the sprint competitions in length and the ladies' ski jumping on normal slopes are decided.

The news agency NTB has received information about how much World Cup gold bonus the individual winners in each branch receive, and there are differences between the sports.

Big difference in ski jumping

The most money in the World Cup gold bonus goes to the winners in the men's ski jumping disciplines, corresponding to just over 264,000 Swedish kronor.

The least gold bonus money from Fis and the World Cup organizer is given to the winners on the women's side in the Nordic combination, corresponding to just under SEK 37,000.

The gold bonus in the ladies' and men's cross-country skiing is completely equal, an individual World Cup gold gives just over 154,000.

Total prize pool of nine million

Fis and the World Cup organizer Oberstdorf share the prize pool, which in total consists of around SEK 9 million, divided into 24 branches, according to NTB.

The reason why men's ski jumping has the largest share of the prize money is that the sport generates the most through TV contracts and sponsors.

Regarding relays and other team competitions at the WC, the bonus prize money is less.
