At the end of last year's season in the damallsvenskan, three players suffered a cruciate ligament injury in Örebro.

And before this year's season started, two more players suffered the knee injury - last in line is goalkeeper Moa Öhman.

- In Moa's case, it was a goalkeeper exercise that she probably did a thousand times, says coach Rickard Johansson to SVT Sport.

The club has tried to find a common thread - without success.

- We have looked at the damage, which was last year, to see if there was any connection with our artificial turf.

But three out of four were away and also on hybrid grass.

"Fitness trainer on site"

Resources have now been put in place to counteract knee injuries in the future - a project that has been going on for five weeks.

- Now we have physical resources.

We have a physiotherapist who is with us more regularly and who can catch injuries before they occur.

Then we also have a fitness coach who is with all sessions and all matches, says Johansson.

But as the Örebro coach sees, there are other problem areas.

- It is difficult because we have eight to ten new players this year and they all come from completely different environments, says Johansson.

- Then there are often one-year contracts in many clubs, which means that the squad changes every year.

It affects the physical part.

The fitness training is something you have to do after a long period.

"Need to change the view of girls' football"

In addition to the richest clubs in the damallsvenskan, the troops are thin in the remaining teams.

And Rickard Johansson believes that one must now start looking at training for girls of earlier ages.

- You need to go even deeper to the age of ten or twelve, change the training and the view of girls' football.

There you can do more for them to be physically prepared.

What do you want for support from the Swedish Football Association?

- I would like to see the connection, the transition from junior to senior football.

I want to see better trained coaches at a younger age.

It often happens that the level of coaching and knowledge is lacking.

It is only when you get up to F19 that you start to have that competence, he says and continues:

- On the men's side, the law has the finances to do medical checks.

It is not on the women's side.
