The team missed the first seven matches in February after an outbreak of covid on 31 January.

After 19 players were on the NHL's covid list, the team only started training on Monday.

The next day on Tuesday, they made a comeback by winning the derby against the New York Rangers 5-2.

It was turbulent to miss over two weeks of play while more and more players became infected, a total of 19.

"It was very unfortunate and it's crazy how quickly this disease spreads," forward Miles Wood told ESPN before the team's victory over the NY Rangers.

Palmieri again in the goal record

Last night, Kyle Palmieri, who was last season's top scorer for the team, scored his first two goals of the season.

He made it 1-0 and 2-0, the latter in games with one man less on the ice after an opening pass by Jesper Bratt.

- Given the pandemic and the long break, it had been a long time since the last goal.

I saw how happy the guys were that I was back.

It means a lot to me, says Palmieri to AP.

The time in self-quarantine gave time for reflection.

- We think about every possible aspect of what can happen and where this disease can go, but hopefully we are on our way back to full health again.

"We're back to playing ice hockey and doing what we love," Palmieri told ESPN before returning earlier this week.

Pavel Zacha scored the match-winning goal 3-1 after a fine collaboration with Andreas Johnsson at the end of the second period.
