Alexis Pinturault is only one round away from the world title on the Giant of Cortina.
Author of a mind-boggling first round despite a bib which notably put him at a disadvantage compared to others at the bottom of the route, the Frenchman pushed the competition to half a second and eliminated big names like Kristoffersen by relegating them to not far from three seconds!
If he does not make a mistake and produces the same ski on the second run, it is difficult to see how the coronation could escape the Pinture, which seems in a “Hirscherian” form.
We will also be watching Mathieu Faivre, also in the game for the medal thanks to an excellent round.
He is 4th at 58 hundredths behind his compatriot.
