Calle Halfvarsson has had a difficult winter and he even broke the Tour de Ski because he felt powerless.

Then he did not know why it went so bad, but after a roller ski test in Falun after the World Cup competitions there, he thinks he has found the explanation.

- The oxygen uptake is great, better than ever.

But the muscles were empty of energy, he says.

During the preparations for the World Cup, he has taken advice from the legendary Gunde Svan.

- It was a lot about how he thought before the championship, when he had a heavier period before.

I believe a lot in his philosophy and it fit very well with the directives I received after the test in Falun.

Halfvarsson has now slowed down and instead drives longer and calmer sessions.

- It's special.

But is used to driving a speed pass every week.

These are new times, he says and continues:

- I dream of being able to succeed at this championship, even though it looks very tough right now.

I have been very far behind the best.

But if this works now, it's nice to bring it to the Olympics next year.

Do you see this championship as crucial for the future?

- No, it will not be real now that I know what the problem is.

I know what they said after the test and I know what weeks I would have needed to get back to good old Calle's form and those weeks I do not really have.

If things go badly at the World Cup, it's hard to judge myself and say now is the end of my career.
