The athletes asked the relevant authorities in the Football Association and the Professional League to set strict controls and standards to control club contracts with foreign players, and to put an end to wasting money on players who do not provide the required and desired addition.

They said in an interview with "Emirates Today" that the current season's league witnessed many deals that proved unsuccessful, but cost a lot of club money, while they saw that a number of national and resident players proved their worth and gave good returns, compared to foreign players who came with big deals.

They said that any success of foreign players should be reflected positively on the Arab Gulf League, and contribute to the development of the level of local competitions in general, as well as national teams, especially the first team, and raise the ranking of the UAE league in Asia, and the success of clubs in their foreign participation, especially at the Asian level.

They indicated that the reality is completely different.

They emphasized that the League and the Federation are required to conduct a thorough study to show the extent of the influence of foreign players and the addition they make, in addition to controlling the contracting process.

Former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ittihad Kalba Club, Issa Al-Dhabhi, said: Some foreign players have become dependent on their clubs, and unfortunately the issue of attracting these players has become a mere waste of clubs budgets.

He added: In previous years, the foreigner used to make the difference by more than 80% over the citizen player, but now the situation is different, and there are now a large number of citizens who make the addition with their teams better than foreigners.

He said that some clubs are better to play without foreigners, to avoid wasting their money.

He explained: The beneficiaries in the end are brokers and mediators, because due to the absence of technical committees specialized in selecting players, clubs make many mistakes, after leaving the matter in the hands of the brokers.

He concluded by saying: If the foreigner does not provide a return of more than 80%, there is no point in his presence with his club.

On the other hand, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Professional League, Muhammad Al-Nuaimi, said, "Those who submitted the addition this season are counting on the fingers of one hand, like Igor Sharjah, Malaba in Kalba, and Thulani Serero, on the island."

He continued: It is important to benefit from the experience of the island in the last two years in the process of attracting foreigners, and I see it as a successful experience.

He continued: Some players in the resident category, such as Al-Jazira Malian player Omar Traore, Al-Ahly youth Jesus, Ajman Essam Fayez, and others, provided better technical returns than foreign players who receive large sums of money.

He pointed out that at the level of Sharjah, Igor, through the stability of his level, is what gives the team an addition, while respecting the rest of the foreign players.

He also called for benefiting from local resident players and children of female citizens, as they are more connected to the state, in addition to the presence of skilled players among them.

The former head of the Football Association's Status and Transfer Committee, Dr. Salim Al Shamsi, said: What is happening now from club deals is a waste of their budgets, without any positive outcome.

"Unfortunately, we have seen the level of our national teams decline in recent periods, especially the senior team," he added.

He added: There is no use in the presence of a foreigner, if the citizen player does not learn from him and benefit from him in the development of his technical level in football.

He said, "There are foreign players who raise the public's pressure only because of their low level, while there are resident players who make the difference with their clubs much more than some foreigners."

He added, “I hope that the Professional League or any concerned party in the country will set special standards that control the recruitment of foreign players, similar to what happens in some neighboring countries, so that they can enrich the UAE League competition locally and raise the level of the competition, which will positively affect the teams and the level of The competition at the continental level ».

A significant number of national and resident players have performed well this season, far surpassing some foreign players.
