A 1-3 loss was hardly the home premiere that San Jose had intended, when the team finally got to play in SAP Center after twelve away games at the beginning of the season.

Due to restrictions in the county of Santa Clara in California, where San Jose is the capital, contact sports have been stopped so far during the NHL season.

The last time San Jose played a home game was on March 8 last year.

It turned out that the problems that San Jose has had away from home recently followed home.

Three powerplay goals

All of Vegas' three goals came in powerplay, scored by Jonathan Marchessault, Mark Stone and Chandler Stephenson in each period.

William Karlsson was noted for the season's fifth assist to the Stones' goal.

San Jose's consolation goal came from Tomas Hertl with barely one and a half minutes in the second period.

- I liked our game five against five.

We won that part.

I would have liked to have seen more goals than one, but on the other hand we did not give them anything in five against five, says San Jose's coach Bob Boughner after the match.

"Not good enough"

He says it was a bit unlucky with the goals that came when San Jose had players sent off, and that it is difficult to point out any huge mistakes that were made.

- But we must be better in a numerical disadvantage.

We have been good earlier in the season, but in recent matches we have not been good enough, he says.
