After Nils van der Poel finished in 12.32.94, he broke Graeme Fish's one year old world record with 91 hundredths.

Immediately after his record run, he sent a greeting to the former world record holder.

- Eat fish for dinner guys, said the Swede straight into the camera.

"Keeps me motivated"

Graeme Fish followed the competition at home in Canada with mixed feelings, he tells Aftonbladet.

- In a way, I wanted him to break the record because it's cool, on the other hand, you want to keep it.

What he did today was incredible.

He really deserves it.

That he broke the record is something that keeps me motivated for the future, Fish tells the newspaper.

The 23-year-old who stayed at home due to the corona pandemic did not perceive the girl from van der Poel on television but is not surprised.

"He is like that"

- He's like that.

He messed with me after the race and I answered and congratulated him immediately.

I think he meant it as a joke and we've been in touch all week.

In fact, he wrote earlier that he would try to break the record.

I fully support him.

He is a really nice guy and it will be fun to compete against each other next year, says Fish.
