At the women's 1500 meters in the national speed skating competition held in Nagano City, Miho Takagi won the championship by breaking his own record for over a second.

Takagi broke the highest record in Japan in all three events he participated in and achieved the triple crown.

The all-Japan selection competition president field tournament of speed skating has reached the final day of the tournament at M-Wave in Nagano City.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the dispatch of Japanese athletes was postponed to the world championships currently being held in the Netherlands, so this tournament has all the top athletes in Japan.

Among them, Takagi, who is the world record holder of this event and won the silver medal at the Pyeongchang Olympics, participated in the women's 1500 meters.

Takagi passed 700 meters in the first half at a faster time than when he set the highest record in Japan in December last year, and in the second half, he set a new record of 1 second 30 with a stable slide that made use of his endurance. He finished with a time of 1'52.78 and won the championship.

Takagi set a new record in Japan for all three events in this tournament and achieved three crowns.

Takagi said, "I was able to accelerate firmly on the curve without putting unnecessary effort. I skated just thinking about setting the time, not thinking about the details, assuming the world championship that is being held now. It was a meaningful race because I was able to embody it intentionally, "he said.
