Martin Ponsiluoma delivered as best he could.

In the World Cup sprint, he took his first ever victory.

After full shooting and full speed in the track, he had to step to the top of the podium.

He picked Sweden's first individual World Cup gold on the men's side since 1958.

Afterwards, he said that it was hard on the track.

But that he kept up the pace by chasing teammate Jesper Nelin.

"It was fun"

- It is easy at the beginning of the course so I tried to lie down well, but controlled.

I knew the second and third laps would be tougher.

But it went well.

I thought it was hard, but I had to chase Jesper in the end so it was fun, says Ponsiluoma.

- I talked to Johannes Lukas (the coach) and dad yesterday and we had a plan to press the second and third laps.

We thought that is where you can take time.

So I just tried to fight faster and faster today - and it went home.
