White now says that the top-ranked Edwards is expected to get a new opponent.
The British and the Swede would have met on 19 December.
But the match was postponed to January 20 after Edwards tested positive for covid-19.
The match was postponed further, until March 13, after Chimaev became corona sick.
The 26-year-old Swede broke through last year, and quickly became a star in the MMA world after becoming the first to win his three matches in the UFC in as short a time as 66 days.
Chimaev won two matches within ten days this summer and ended the year with a knockout victory against Gerald Meerschaert after 17 seconds.
