The Australian Open has been one of the few sporting events in the world that has allowed audiences in recent times.

But now all the audience will be stopped for the next five days.

The shutdown comes after a new outbreak of the British variant of the coronavirus at a quarantine hotel at Melbourne Airport.

There were therefore very special circumstances when Novak Djokovic met the American Taylor Fritz in the third round.

Forced to go home

Djokovic looked to be heading for a convincing victory after winning the first two sets.

But then Fritz would come back and the match dragged on.

So in the middle of the fourth set, the audience began to boo.

The reason was that the clock had passed midnight and all the people in place had to go home, which was not entirely popular with everyone in the stands.

Fritz would win the fourth set and it was a fifth decisive.

There, however, Djokovic would be the strongest and could break to 4-2 and finally take home the set with 6-3 and the match with 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2 .
