The World Cup was supposed to be held in Beijing but was canceled due to the corona pandemic.

Then the plan was that the World Championships in freeskiing, humpback and snowboarding would be held in Calgary, but it did not happen either.

It is now clear that the World Championships in freeskiing and snowboarding will be held in Aspen Colorado.

Something that the national captain in freeski, Niklas Eriksson, is very happy about.

- I received the message last night on my mobile.

That it will happen is really positive.

This is the highlight of the year for us, says Niklas Eriksson to SVT Sport.

- It is important for the sport that we get to compete with the Olympics next year in mind.

Every major competition is a great opportunity to prepare.

We also have a great team so I am positive and hopeful, he says.

That it would happen was something that Eriksson had heard rumors about.

- We had been told that something was going on.

We therefore chose to start preparing immediately in case it should happen.

That it will be Aspen, Colorado, Niklas Eriksson thinks is due to the latest X-games that took place there on January 29-31 this year.

- I think that since the X-games went there, it was realized that it is possible to conduct competitions there.

The World Cup will be run between March 10-16.
