This week begins the Alpine World Cup in Cortina.

Sweden is represented by eleven skiers.

It is the first WC since the stars Frida Hansdotter, André Myhrer and Mattias Hargin retired.

But national team manager Lars Melin is still hopeful ahead of the championship.

- I think we should be able to surprise in a positive way.

I feel that an individual medal is the goal, says Melin.

He highlights two skiers who are hoping for a little extra.

- Sara Hector has two possibilities, the parallel and the giant slalom.

Then there is Kristoffer Jakobsen, if he has a good day and the conditions are right, he can strike.

It would be a small bang but the chance is there, says Melin

The premiere has been postponed

The championship's first competition, the ladies' combination, had to be postponed due to snowstorms.

One of the Swedes who would have run that competition on Monday is Lin Ivarsson who is doing his second WC.

- Goal for me is a little hard to say, I have not really had time to think about it.

But I think the top 20 is possible, says Ivarsson to SVT Sport.
